Message From the Principal

Dear Parents/Guardians

Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year! I hope you enjoyed a summer vacation filled with fun and exciting memories with your loved ones. We are thrilled to welcome all of you back to a new school year of learning and growing!

Personally, I am grateful and elated to continue this journey with you as your Principal. Over the past year, I have had a chance to meet many of you and your children, and look forward to continue building a strong relationship with all of you in the upcoming year. As we enter this new school year, I want to let you know that our staff will be engaging in conversations around having a growth mindset, both for themselves and all students. We believe that every person in this building should always be growing and learning. Despite obstacles that may arise, we must always believe in our ability to rise above challenges and come out stronger on the other end.

We are looking forward to a productive partnership with you to ensure our children can achieve their highest potential. We recognize that in order to be successful in school, our children need support from both the home and school. We know a strong partnership with you will make a great difference in your child’s education. As partners, we share the responsibility for our children’s success and want you to know that we will do our very best to carry out our responsibilities. We ask that you guide and support your child’s learning by ensuring that he/she:

    • Attends school daily and arrives on time (8:00 AM), ready for the day’s learning experience
    • Wear school uniform daily
    • Completes all homework assignments given by teachers
    • Reads daily to develop a love for reading and to improve literacy skills
    • Shares school experiences with you so that you are aware of his/her school life
    • Informs you or his/her teacher if he/she needs additional support in any area or subject
    • Knows that you expect him/her to succeed in school and go on to college

If you have any questions about the expectations, please feel free to contact Ms. Rijo, Mr. Rosario or your child’s teacher. It is very important that you and your child are fully informed regarding standards related to appropriate behavior for a safe and productive school year.

I want to personally invite you to attend our Back-to-School Night on Thursday, September 12, from 4:30-7:30 PM. This will be a great time to strengthen our PS192 community, meet teachers and other families, and learn about the upcoming school year events. We’ll begin the evening with our 3rd Health/Resource Fair (healthy refreshments will be available). We’ll transition into a short school-wide meeting in the Auditorium, and from there you’ll have the opportunity to visit with teachers at each grade-level. Our school goal is to see 100% of our families at this event. I hope to see each of you on Thursday, September 12!

As always, please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns.

In Unity,

Hilduara
