Parent Newsletter
June, 2023
Greetings, Parents, and Guardians,
As we find ourselves on the cusp of summer, it's with great joy that I bring you the June edition of our school newsletter. The past year has been filled with growth, achievement.
First and foremost, I want to extend my most profound appreciation to the parents who actively participated in our parent seminars, school events, and celebrations. Your engagement and support have been invaluable in shaping the educational experience of our students. You have demonstrated your commitment to their growth and development by attending these events. Your presence has enriched their learning journey and strengthened the bond between home and school. Thank you for partnering with us and embracing the belief that education is collaborative. Your involvement has fostered a sense of togetherness and unity within our school community. For that, we are sincerely grateful.
As we eagerly await the last day of school on Tuesday, June 27, 2023, let us remind you that it will be filled with anticipation and excitement. On this day, our students will finally receive their hard-earned report cards. It's a time to celebrate their accomplishments, acknowledge their progress, and recognize their resilience. We encourage you to take a moment to reflect on their achievements and shower them with the praise they deserve.
Furthermore, please note that Tuesday, June 27, 2023, will be a full Day of education. Students will be dismissed promptly at 2:20 p.m. This provides our dedicated teachers and staff an opportunity to bid farewell to our students and wish them a summer filled with rest, relaxation, and rejuvenation. It's also a time for our students to say goodbye to friends, teachers, and cherished memories. We ask you to help us achieve 100% attendance on June 27. The classes that meet this goal, will earn a pizza party at the end of the day. We are counting on YOU to have 100% attendance every day until June 27, 2023.
Lastly, I congratulate our remarkable fifth graders transitioning to middle school. You have shown tremendous growth, resilience, and a thirst for knowledge throughout your time at P.S. 192. We are immensely proud of your accomplishments and wish you the best of success as you embark on this exciting new chapter. Remember, you carry the memories, friendships, and lessons learned here. We will always support you as you continue to flourish and achieve greatness.
As we bid farewell to another remarkable year, let us hold on to the memories that have made it special. May this summer be a time of rest, joy, and meaningful connections with loved ones. On behalf of the entire P.S. 192 community, I extend my warmest wishes for a beautiful and rejuvenating summer break.
With gratitude and warm regards,
Hilduara Abreu
Principal, P.S. 192

Reminders
ID- To ensure the safety of everyone, and as per DOE regulation, any parent who wishes to enter the school must present an NYS valid photo ID and sign-in. Then, the visitor will be directed to Ms. Rijo (Parent Coordinator) to assist. At this time, visitors are not required to show proof of vaccination before entering the school building.
School Uniform- your child must come to school Every Single Day wearing the uniform: burgundy top and navy blue pants/shirts.
COVID-19 testing- Every month, all staff and students will be given four at-home rapid tests. If a student or staff member is exposed to COVID-19, two additional tests will be provided so that staff and students can test once on the fourth and fifth days after exposure. The school's protocols for students experiencing COVID-like symptoms have not changed. Additional rapid tests will be administered to those employees and students. According to the CDC, schools should no longer administer routine COVID-19 testing to asymptomatic or unexposed students. As a result, there will be no weekly in-school random PCR testing this year.
Daily screenings discontinued- Daily screenings for students, staff, and visitors will no longer be required.
Masks- will continue to be optional for students and faculty at all grade levels. Only the following situations necessitate the use of a mask: When returning to school (or riding a school bus) on the sixth day after testing positive for COVID-19 through the tenth day after symptom onset or the date of a positive test, whichever comes first. When entering a school's medical room, school nurse's office, or a school-based health center. When exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms at school. Masks will continue to be available in schools upon request. Schools will always have a 30-day supply on hand.
Terrific Tuesday | Parental Engagement- Terrific Tuesday takes place every Tuesday from 2:20 PM until 3:00 PM. Please contact the teacher of your child to schedule a meeting to keep yourself informed regarding the social-emotional and academic progress of your child.
Lost & Found- If your child losses an item, please check the lost & found, located inside the Auditorium. Unclaimed items will be donated to the Salvation Army at the end of the school year.
