The clinic connects immigrants to free and safe immigration legal screenings. For over two years, ActionNYC has not only been able to connect immigrant communities with a free immigration legal help in their language of choice, but has also provided them with free assistance in tracking down documents, putting their application together, and connecting them to other services such as IDNYC. As part of the ActionNYC program, “ActionNYC in Schools” provides services in schools, with the mission of offering NYC students with legal services in their schools.
Through ActionNYC in schools, we’ll be able to provide your school with:
Outreach materials and support as needed
Provide marketing tools
Flyers (with date/time of when the clinic will take place in your school)
Conduct Know Your Rights workshops (tailored for students/staff/parents), as needed, to promote the clinic
Legal screenings handled by Catholic Charities who will:
Offer onsite, private consultations on immigration matters to students and parents
Green Card renewals
Family Petitions
Citizenship applications
U visas, T visas, VAWA visas
DACA ( Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals)
SIJS ( Special Immigrant Juvenile Status)
Note: Clinics are 8 hours long (including 1-hour lunch)
Screen 21-24 individuals at each clinic
Assistance provided to students, parents, family members and community members
Important: Each appointment slot is for ONE individual. Attorneys will NOT be able to screen more than one person at the same time.
